# KOLāZ Relay

> KOLāZ Relay joins live streams from several places into one stream that does not drop. A client sends from each place with their own encoder, chooses from a panel which place is on air, and a holding slate covers any gap. The one stream goes out to YouTube and other destinations at once. It is run from Greece by KOLāZ.

- **What it is:** a managed relay between a client's encoders and their streaming platforms. Not an encoder, not a video platform, not software to install.
- **What sets it apart:** the hand-over between places, with the stream kept alive by a slate when the source on air is lost. The picture is not re-encoded.
- **What it does not do:** it does not switch to another source by itself. When the source on air is lost, the slate goes on and the client chooses the next source.
- **Who it is for:** shows and sport: shows with guests or studios in several places, and live sport and on-location coverage.

## Your stream stays live.

You stream from the studio, the pitch, a guest's living room. KOLāZ Relay makes them one stream: you move from one to the next with a single press, and if one is lost, the slate holds the air until it comes back.

## Many places. One stream.

1. **You send.** Each place sends from its own encoder, OBS or whatever you use, with its own key.
2. **You choose.** From your panel you pick which place goes on air. The switch is a single press, and the stream never stops.
3. **It goes everywhere.** One stream leaves for YouTube and as many other destinations as you want, all at once.

## Why Relay.

- **The slate holds the air.** If the source on air is lost, the slate goes on at once. The broadcast does not end and the audience does not leave; you move to another source when you are ready.
- **Exactly as you sent it.** The picture arrives as you sent it. No loss of quality, and almost no delay added by us.

## A pilot. Set up by hand.

KOLāZ Relay is starting with a few first clients. We set up the connection with you, one at a time, and give you the settings for each place.

## For your engineer.

- **Input:** RTMP, from OBS, vMix or whatever encoder you use
- **Settings:** The same resolution, frame rate and sound on every source. We give them to you ready.
- **Processing:** No re-encoding: the stream passes through as you sent it
- **Resolution:** 1080p, 1440p or 4K, up to 60 fps
- **Output:** RTMP / RTMPS, to several destinations at once
- **Slate:** Ready in 720p, 1080p and 4K, at 25, 30, 50 and 60 fps
- **Sources:** From 1 to 8

## Common questions.

**What happens if the source on air drops?**
The slate goes on and the stream carries on, without the broadcast ending on YouTube. You move to another source with one press, or wait for the same one to come back.

**Does it switch to another source by itself?**
No. You always choose the source that goes on air. While there is no signal, the audience sees the slate.

**Is quality lost?**
No. We do not re-encode the picture: it reaches the destination as you sent it.

**Is special equipment needed?**
No. An encoder in each place, such as OBS, and an internet connection. Every source sends with the same settings, which we give you.

**Can we go out on several platforms at once?**
Yes. The same stream leaves at the same time for YouTube, Facebook, Twitch and any other destination that takes RTMP. The first destination is included, and each extra one costs €3 a month.

**Do you charge by the hour?**
No. You pay a fixed amount each month, however much you stream. For a 24-hour channel, talk to us.
